Yan’er, also called Shi’er, grows on the steep malmstone cliffs in Wulingyuan Scenic Area. It is hard to pick so it is very valuable. In the ancient times, Chinese people used Yan’er to make soup or chicken stew. Yan’er is not only a medicine for inflammation, but also a delicious food. However, Yan’er is a herb with cold property which means it is not suitable for those who suffer from indigestion or diarrhea.
