Betel nut is originally from Malaysia. It is an important traditional Chinese herb. In Hunan, especially Xiangtan, everyone loves chewing betel nuts. Fresh green betel nuts are stewed in gravy so the nuts are brown and delicious with endless aftertaste. Sharing betel nuts with guests is a characteristic etiquette in Xiangtan while in other regions in China, people serve tea or cigarettes.
