Mount Yuelu Scenic Area

The Yuelu Mountain Scenic Area, located in Yuelu District, Changsha City, in Hunan Province, is 300.8 meters above sea level. It is the last peak of the 72 peaks of the Hengshan Mountains. As one of the four scenic areas featured for its maples in China, it is an urban mountain scenic area.

Currently, there are four core scenic areas: The Yuelu Mountain scenic area, Orange Island scenic area, Yuelu Academy, and Xinmin Institute. Tourists can visit the Aiwan Pavilion, Yuelu Academy, Lushan Temple, Yunlu Palace, Baihe Spring, Yuwang Tablet, two poem inscriptions (by Zhang Nanxuan from the Song Dynasty and Qian Nanyuan from the Qing Dynasty respectively), and Sarira towers from the Sui Dynasty, and Yinxin Shiwu inscriptions, etc. Among which, the Aiwan Pavilion was listed as one of the Four Famous Pavilions along with the Zuiweng Pavilion in Chuxuan County of Anhui Province, the Huxin Pavilion on the West Lake of Hangzhou, and the Taoran Pavilion in the Taoran Pavilion Park of Beijing. Yuelu Academy is one of the Four Top Academies in ancient China, and is the best preserved ancient academy.

    To the South Gate: take Tourist Bust 3 and get off at the terminal station for Dongfanghong Square, and walk for about 10 minutes to your destination. To the East Gate: take the 63, 132, 202, 305 buses to the Fourth City Hospital station, and walk for about 5 minutes to your destination.
