Tao Yuanming, a poet of the Jin Dynasty, once wrote about a land of peach blossoms, a well-organized society secluded from the outside world. Changde, as most people believe, is where the Land of Peach Blossoms was. It neighbors Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. In the city there are scenic areas such as the national-level scenic area the Land of Peach Blossoms, the thousand-year Buddhist sacred place Jiashan Temple, Huping Mountain Grand Canyon and the Changde Poem Wall which has been recorded in the Guinness World Records. Changde not only has spectacular natural landscapes, but also nurtures influential figures such as Qu Yuan, a poet and politician of the Warring States period and Li Bai, a famous poet of the Tang Dynasty.
